Lake Monticello May See Water Rate Increases

Homeowners at Lake Monticello are upset about Aqua Virginia's proposed water and sewer rate increases.

Aqua Virginia has asked the State Corporation Commission to approve rate increases that would hike the average homeowner's monthly water bill by more than 40 percent. The average sewer bill would jump by more than 50 percent.

The Lake Monticello Homeowner's Association has drafted a form letter for homeowners to send to the State Corporation Commission if they oppose the rate changes.

The commission must receive those letters by February 17.
